Utah Shakespeare Festival

I am currently working at Utah Shakespeare Festival as the Randall scenic artist. Along with the swing scenic artist and Jr. painter, we are working on the shows Pirates of Penzance and Ragtime. Photos to come soon!

As a scenic artist on this crew, I was completely responsible for the aged wood treatment on the wood. I was also a part of the team creating the flaky, aged paint on both house units and the various floor treatments that ranged from tile to wood and finally to grass.

Berkshire Theatre Group

During their summer season, I executed the designs for eight shows with a charge artist, assistant charge artist, and two other interns. The shows were painted for three different spaces of varying sizes and needs. Scenery ranged from realistic stone walls, nonrepresentational trees, carved wood, translucent drop work on gauze, and scenic dope to create wood, stone, and thatched roof textures. Touch-ups, notes, and floors were also required of the team throughout the summer. Occasionally, I was given the opportunity to be in charge of a sample based on elevations and then make adjustments according to a designer's notes.

During this process, I was responsible for painting all of the textured and carved rocks downstage, carving the maypole, and the floor treatment. It was especially interesting being a part of the design process during this show and rendering the paint elevations, and then being one of the artists executing the designs.
